The 1 or 2 week  tiling courses would prove invaluable to anyone wishing to become a professional Tiler or simply to learn tiling so that you can use new skills in your own home or for family and friends - tiling like a pro to the highest standards. Bad tiling can make an expensive job look cheap.

I am sure you are aware that there is a lot of good tiling being done out there but there is also an awful lot of very poor quality work. I have seen it and I am sure you have. If you or a client has spent a lot of money on a new kitchen or bathroom, it is obvious that the tiling – the finishing touch – should be professional or it can ruin the whole job.

This is where we come in.

1 Week Wall Tiling Courses

In this course you will learn all the skills required to tile a bathroom. You will work in a dedicated bay where you will tile around a bath and basin and a third wall with a window recess.

You are taught where and how to start tiling any given area - How to deal with walls and floors etc that are not level - How to properly measure and cut tile strips and where these should ideally be located – The correct use of tiling tools - How to apply adhesive properly and lay a large area of wall of tiles to be perfectly level and step free.

You are taught the skills necessary to cut and file tiles accurately to fit around shapes like the basin and its supports. There are other obstacles to tile around which need other skills - such as shower pipes which protrude from the wall above the bath requiring you to master tile drilling. You will use various tile cutting methods by hand and machine. There are also soil pipes and sockets and switches to tile around and you finish with a window recess which will really test the accuracy of your measurements and cuts.

You will find that you will start slowly but after a day or two you will have gained confidence and pick up speed as you become accustomed to the tools and ways of working.

If we can teach you to tile a hundred tiles perfectly you will have mastered the skills you need to tile a thousand.

In addition to the formal lessons and demonstrations of each skill you will receive attention at all times on both courses to ensure you are producing quality work. It is a good idea to take notes as you go because informally, through answering your questions and general discussion, you will gain a mine of information throughout. Top tips and trade secrets cover everything from the best materials to use and working methods, to how to quote for a job etc etc.

Grouting and Sealing

After tiling the walls you will be taught the correct way to grout the tiles and how to apply silicone sealant to the bath and basin to make water-tight joints between the tiled wall and the fittings. You will take the bathroom bay project through to completion, correcting any mistakes you make if necessary, until you produce the best possible finish – just as if it was your own bathroom or that of a paying customer.

2 Week Floor Tiling and Advanced Wall Tiling Courses

The 2 week courses include all of week one plus a Floor Tiling course and more Wall Tiling with a higher degree of difficulty. Our new purpose-built bays will allow you to use your artistic talents to design and fit tiles to a wall in a pattern. You will also tile over “boxings” (covered in pipes). On the Floor Tiling courses we will teach you how to correctly set out, measure, cut and lay floor tiles and explain the differences in adhesives and grouts.

On completion of the tiling courses we believe there is no reason why you cannot go out and earn good money as a wall and floor tiler or to use your new skills as a lucrative supplement to other trade skills you may already have such as painting and decorating or plumbing.

We also supply you with information and advice on how to set up your own business.
